Fitbit Versa: women's smartwatch now available for pre-order

created on 26.3.2018

There are plenty of smartwatches out there, but few for women. Until now: with the Versa, Fitbit is clearly targeting thinner wrists and women.

As a general rule, women have thinner wrists than men. This isn't a big deal in everyday life, but when it comes to jewellery or smartwatches, it's a different story. On men's wrists, the latter often look good, but on women's, they look more like a brick than a watch.

Fitbit wants to put an end to this detail and, although there are clearly more men than women in the spot, the target audience for this watch is clearly female.

The Fitbit Versa goes on sale on Monday 16 April 2018. With us, you can already pre-order this beauty and be sure that it will reach you with our first delivery. However: for the launch, we can only offer the standard black edition. The other colours will arrive in May.

The future is female

Women are more often ignored than considered by the male-dominated tech industry. This clearly needs to change in our increasingly digitalised society. Initial changes are visible in product design, although more women could easily work in the laboratories and offices of some manufacturers.

The future of the Fitbit Versa is feminine.

For the first update, Fitbit promises features that allow women to better document their menstrual cycle. The Versa can be used to "log your period, symptoms and compare your cycle to stats like sleep, activity and weight."

Small, thin, powerful

The Fitbit is elegant: minimalist design with carefully placed colour accents and a focus placed on the dial. But there's more to the San Francisco-based company than meets the eye. The Versa is small: with a screen diagonal of 34 millimetres and a long side of 24 millimetres, the Versa offers, according to the manufacturer, many functions on its screen.

  • The battery lasts more than four days
  • More than 15 training modes are supported
  • Waterproof up to 50 metres
  • Biological data recording, including sleep
  • Local memory to store up to 300 tracks
  • Fitbit Pay
  • Smartphone notifications

The Versa is a solid little smartwatch that will serve men perfectly, but especially promises a lot to women.
