Digitec Podcast Episode 133: Clear-cutting in the tech industry

Google, Microsoft and Amazon are reporting record mass redundancies. We explain why this is not just to do with corona. We also talk about Netflix account sharing and the second episode of "The Last of Us".
US tech companies are currently engaged in a sad competition to see who can lay off the most employees. Much is being blamed on the sluggish economy and the consequences of coronavirus. But that's not the whole truth.
No mass redundancies have yet taken place at Netflix. This could perhaps change if account sharing is put a stop to in March. We discuss what this means for the streaming service and its subscribers.
We watched the not-so-sad "Triangle of Sadness" and the French action drama "Athena".
We continued on a happier note in the games corner, where we played the rhythm game "Hi-Fi Rush". We also hoisted the skull and crossbones flag in "Tortuga: A Pirate's Tale" and hunted for rich merchants.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
