CES 2020: Ivanka Trump, data protection and Samsung's spherical robot
Stephanie Tresch and Dominik Bärlocher are in Las Vegas. They will be reporting from CES 2020. But they also want to know what you want to know. So let them know in the comments column.
Samsung offers robots, wants data
Samsung has announced what the decade will look like in terms of technology. We need to ask ourselves some very bitter questions as a society
The scandal surrounding Ivanka Trump
Ivanka Trump is a keynote speaker at CES. Nobody knows exactly why. Let's take a look at the world of women
Samsung in the live ticker
We don't have a live ticker on this page. And it's 3.30 am in Zurich anyway. But nevertheless: We're ticking live over on Twitter. Among other things, it's about yawning Americans, lift music and then also about things that Samsung actually introduces.
Sunday, 5 January 2020: Samsung and drunken elephants
Reader dietmargru asked, Samsung answered. Voilà, The Frame, The Serif, The Sero and The Andere Ferseher
The first press conferences start. Samsung will have something new to say about its screens - we're excited.
Meanwhile, editor Jan Johannsen has already written about Acer and Dell in Hamburg. Merci!
The journey
The journey took a total of just 28 hours from the bed in Zurich to the bed in an Airbnb in Las Vegas. Over the course of Friday, the dining table of the single-storey house is transformed into the Las Vegas editorial team, the fridge filled with the finest American delicacies from the nearby WalMart. Because the invitations are pouring in: Press conference here, keynote there, appointment with manufacturers somewhere in between. So we are busy.
We wouldn't have it any other way.
Why the CES?
CES is by far the most exciting place me and video producer Stephanie Tresch have ever been. Because it's not the cheerful product showcase that makes up a Mobile World Congress in Barcelona or an IFA in Berlin. CES may have its nice new toys, but it essentially shows what our world could look like in five years' time. What are the current trends on the tech scene? What could be smart and how? Or, more specifically: When will we finally have screens that work with all gloves? How will we drive our cars one day?
What are we not expecting yet?
It's also exciting to see whether we were right with last year's predictions. What happened to our favourite projects? Which Chinese companies are trying to make a name for themselves in the West this year? How do they perceive the political tensions between the USA and China?

We need you!
But, when we think about it, we don't want to be the only ones deciding our content at this time. You can have your say. Just drop us a comment in the comments column below and we'll do our best. Whether you're interested in a new product or a trend, we want to know. So, hit the keys. Then we'll hit the keys. We might not answer every question in the comments or say "Yes, we will", but you can be sure that we've read your comment.
So, that's it. Let's make some coffee. Because there was still enough time to go shopping after landing yesterday.
