Buying a smartphone: from idea to shipment in 10 minutes

Buying a new smartphone can be a real obstacle course. But not always. For me, it took just 10 minutes. Here's how I did it.
There are people who search for hours, days or even weeks to find the best possible smartphone. If that amuses them, I, personally, have other fish to fry. In any case, I have the impression that phones are becoming more and more similar and that it's no longer the usual needs that dictate the purchase. The speed with which I proceeded with the order surprised me greatly.
4:50pm: I happened to remember that I wanted to order a new smartphone today. And all the while knowing that the deadline for next-day delivery is 5pm. So I go to the digitec website.
4:53pm: I know the Huawei P20 Pro is top notch and has a great camera. That's the one thing I won't skimp on. I realise that the P20 Lite is much cheaper than the P20 Pro and also cheaper than the P20. I compare the three models. What's wrong with the more affordable version?
4:55pm: the camera on the Lite version is less convincing, but still quite acceptable. Also, the device has a weaker processor. I don't really care, to tell you the truth. No OLED, but what do I care? The screen is a little smaller. For me, that's not a disadvantage, but an advantage. And it has other strong points: The Lite version is the only one of the three to have a microSD card slot and a headphone socket.
4:56pm: for the price after all, there's no need to rack your brains for long.
4:57pm: stop, there's still a promo on it. I take a look. The Huawei Mate Porsche Design costs CHF 999 instead of CHF 1999. That's a saving of CHF 1,000! Thanks, but no thanks.
4.58pm: the purchase is made, and before the fateful deadline.
17:00: I receive an e-mail telling me that the goods are ready for dispatch. I'm surprised, I thought I'd only receive this message the following day.
It's always afterwards that you realise that there's a device with even better value for money. And here, that would be the Honor 10 Lite phone. But I don't really care after all.
