Blue Sport: price increase for the coming football season
Blue Sport is increasing its plan prices for existing customers. The Swisscom subsidiary is also losing the broadcasting rights for two European leagues. The new prices will apply from autumn.
Swiss football fans don't have it easy right now. After the narrow elimination in the quarter-finals of the European Championships, the start of the domestic Super League season is coming up next weekend. Shortly before the start of the season, Blue Sport customers will receive an email informing them that the prices of the plan will be adjusted.
Until now, existing customers have had the privilege of being spared the last price increase in 2023. New customers have been paying 34.90 francs per month since last summer. The price increase of five francs per month will also apply to existing customers from 1 September 2024. Existing customers are those who took out a plan before 21 June 2023.

However, this is not the only bad news. Parts of the offer of the self-proclaimed "Home of Football" are also being cancelled. At the start of the season, competitor DAZN acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights for French Ligue 1 and Italian Serie A. This was also announced by Blue Sport by email and justified with the "economically responsible view of the value of sports rights".

In addition to the domestic leagues, the "Super League" and the "dieci Challenge League", this leaves the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League as the flagships. Although Blue Sport also broadcasts the matches of other leagues - including the English Premier League and the Spanish Copa del Rey - these are only the so-called "top matches". In other words, individual matches, sometimes exclusively with French commentary.
The two subscription plans remain unchanged: CHF 34.90 per month with a minimum contract term of twelve months, or a Blue Sport plan with no cancellation period at a fee of CHF 49.90 per month.
