Logitech's new wireless gaming mouse lets you adjust the trigger point for the front buttons.

With the Pro X2 Superstrike, Logitech is launching a new mouse for the gaming sector. What makes it special: It uses a new system for click detection. The advantage is said to be greater sensitivity and customisation to personal preferences. It will be available from 10 February.

Inductively detected clicks

Instead of mechanical switches, the so-called «Haptic Inductive Trigger System »(HITS) is used. Sensors use induction to measure changes in an electromagnetic field. This allows the mouse to recognise your finger pressure earlier. With other mice, the click only occurs when a pressure point is exceeded.

You can adjust the trigger point for the two front buttons in ten stages. This means you decide how low you need to press the button to fire a shot, for example. The reset point can be set in five stages. This allows you to configure the mouse so that a new click is triggered without completely releasing the button.

Because the trigger cannot be felt, the Pro X2 Superstrike provides you with artificial haptic feedback.

The sensor detects high speeds

The mouse offers a resolution of 100 to 44,000 DPI. According to the manufacturer, the «Hero 2» sensor can handle movement speeds of up to 888 IPS (inches per second) and an acceleration of up to 88 g.

Wireless communication between the mouse and computer takes place via Lightspeed technology. The receiver is included. The fast transmission technology allows a polling rate of eight kilohertz. You can also use the mouse with a cable, in which case the polling rate is one kilohertz. The mouse weighs 61 grammes.

The Pro X2 Superstrike has five buttons. It has a symmetrical design, but only has buttons for the thumb on the left-hand side. It is therefore not entirely suitable for left-handers.

My colleague Kevin, the editorial team's peripherals expert, will be taking a closer look at the mouse soon.
