Apple event on 7 September: current rumours about the iPhone 14

At 7 p.m. our time on 7 September, the Event from Apple will begin. Under the motto "Far Out", the presentation of the iPhone 14 and the Apple Watch 8 is considered a certainty. The invitation itself fuels rumours of Apple's AR glasses with an AR masteregg .

iPhone 14: Pro models with significant differences

The iPhone 14 is expected to be the most important product at the event. There are likely to remain four models: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus or Max, as well as iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The Mini is likely to disappear, according to all reports so far. There is also speculation that the Pro models will be more different than before from the standard models. There is talk of an always-on display, which only the Pro models will get. In addition, their screens would use the latest generation of panels with polycrystalline oxide (LTPO), while the standard models use polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) . The display changes could reportedly lead to a smaller front camera notch on the Pro models. In addition, it could be that Apple only uses the new A16 chip in the iPhone 14 Pro. In the standard iPhone 14, the A15 would be the same chip as in all variants of the iPhone 13. However, this would still gain in performance. The switch to USB-C isn't expected until 2023. . If these prospects don't convince you, you should still take a look at the iPhone 13 if you're interested in a new iPhone. At the very least, there's a prediction that the iPhone 14 will be noticeably more expensive. Supply shortages, inflation, etc.

Apple Watch: three new models

On the Apple Watch, the rumours revolve around three new models that still won't get square edges. The Apple Watch Series 8 is said to look like the Series 7, but will get a body temperature sensor. The Apple Watch SE could get a more powerful processor but also remain visually unchanged. The third new smartwatch would reportedly be an outdoor model for extreme athletes, with a larger display and longer battery life, among other features.

Apple is also said to be working on new AirPods Pro and a new Mac Pro. The current model still runs on Intel processors, and an upgrade to Apple's in-house chipsets is overdue. Information on headphones and PCs, however, is currently unlikely for 7 September. This also applies to new iPads, for which a separate event in October is being discussed.

AR glasses: Easteregg fuels rumours

Visit Apple's event page with an iPhone running iOS 14 or iOS 15 and the Apple logo formed from stars becomes movable, as demonstrated, for example, by Apple's marketing chief Greg Joswiak on Twitter.

This, of course, fuels speculation about the AR glasses Apple has long been rumoured to be working on:

• Will they be unveiled along with the iPhone 14?
• Is it just a brief sneak peak and will it appear in 2023?
• Will the iPhone 14 come with more AR features? Astrophotography? More zoom? Starlight as colour?
• Is this all just a gimmick that has nothing to do with the content of the event?
