17 reasons why "Dark Souls 3" (almost) seduces me after all

"Dark Souls 3 has been on sale for several weeks now. So far, however, I have kept my hands off it out of consideration for my own salvation. The series is notorious for its gruelling level of difficulty and the associated potential for frustration. However, when I look at the following gifs and videos, the temptation becomes ever greater.
It's not that I've never played Dark or Demon's Souls. Apart from Dark Souls 1, I've played every instalment - a bit, like a few hours. But then I was always on the verge of smashing my controller and throwing the console out of the window. Things didn't go any better with "Bloodborne", as this flattering video proves.
This is probably how my "Dark Souls 3" encounter would go. [[image:5776926]]

I admit it, I just don't have the patience. My blood starts to boil just thinking about how I fought my way to the same enemy countless times in "Demon's Souls", only to press some wrong button in the rush and bite the dust again without even making a dent in my opponent's armour. Aaarrrgggg. Take it easy. Take a deep breath. I think I'll stick to my abstinence. However, I have to admit that the following moments make me extremely chuffed.
Because you can play as a porcupine
Because there are flying skeletons

Because you can just lie down in case of danger

Because you can always rely on friendly warnings like: There is no dragon here, can always be relied upon

Because everything is a trap

Because others have their trousers full too

Because the opponents aren't much cleverer than me

Because danger lurks in every direction
Because sometimes you want to walk up the walls

Because sometimes you're just lucky

Because the souls of other players sometimes reveal amazing things...

...namely that chests can be quite voracious

Because you can feel like Indiana Jones - very briefly

Because sometimes other players just want to fool around

Because you can never be far enough away
Because you should never enjoy the view

Because there are epic duels

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
