### Compatibility with Nikon D5300 The Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR lens is compatible with your Nikon D5300, but it requires a firmware update on the camera to function properly. Here are the key points: - The lens is fully compatible with the D5300 after a firmware update. ### Differences Between the Two Lenses Here are the main differences between the Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR and the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR: #### Focal Length Range - Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR: 70-300mm, which is suitable for telephoto shots and wildlife photography. - Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR: 18-300mm, offering a much wider range that covers both wide-angle and telephoto shots. #### Autofocus System - Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR: Uses the AF-P (Pulse Motor) system, which provides fast, silent autofocus and instant manual-focus override. - Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR: Uses the AF-S (Silent Wave Motor) system, which is also quiet and fast but does not have the same level of silent operation as AF-P lenses. #### Compatibility and Firmware - Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR: Requires a firmware update for some camera models, including the D5300. - Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR: Generally more compatible with a wider range of Nikon cameras without needing firmware updates. #### Weight and Size - Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR: Weighs approximately 680g and measures 80.5mm x 146mm. - Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR: Weighs approximately 550g and measures 83mm x 120mm (though exact dimensions may vary slightly). ### Recommendation For a safari trip, if you are primarily interested in telephoto shots for wildlife photography, the Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR would be a better choice due to its specific telephoto range and advanced AF-P autofocus system. However, if you need a lens that covers a broader range of focal lengths and can handle both wide-angle and telephoto shots, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR might be more versatile for your needs.

Malheureusement non - les téléobjectifs AF-P 70-300mm (il en existe trois types : Un pour le plein format, à savoir celui-ci, et deux pour le format DX) ne sont compatibles qu'à partir du modèle D5200.
