Will this switch also get as hot as the model CRS305-1G-4S+IN, so that the one inputs are deactivated?
The inputs are OK, only the outputs are deactivated.
So far I have never had all the ports active, but the unit hardly gets hand-warm. The heat pipes leading from the SoC to the large heat sink at the back seem to be well dimensioned. However, I only use DAC and 10GBASE-SR modules.
Also note that in the Mikrotik Wiki the manufacturer gives special instructions when using 10Gbit RJ45 modules (10GBASE-T), the article is titled "S+RJ10 general guidance". This refers to the original 10GBASE-T module from Mikrotik, but the problem also applies to other 10GBASE-T modules from other manufacturers.
Among other things, it advises against installing several 10GBASE-T modules next to each other. It is not only Mikrotik that has problems with this, it is because 10GBASE-T modules generate significantly more waste heat than DAC cables and fibre optic modules.
