Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro Mobile Router
Why the heck are LastGen mobile routers always so damn expensive? How do you justify that? I mean, I can get a decent laptop for a grand. Does anyone know the pricing policy behind them? In my opinion, these mobile routers are actually niche products and should therefore not be so expensive (because the demand is not exorbitant...).
Yes, the Netgear 5G routers are really sensationally expensive - that's why I bought a much more functional Teltonika RUTX50 for a bit less - it can even do 2 SIM (so 2 times WAN)...
I think it has a lot to do with Netgear's pricing policy - and with "keeping the price high" - I haven't seen the retail prices below 800$ anywhere... But with the carriers a presumed retail price of around 450$ - but only in rent (at xx.xx$ per month).
I agree with you exactly. Then I read the test reports and see that these overpriced devices get top marks.... And I ask myself, where are the criticisms regarding price-performance? .... Sure, if someone testing the device doesn't have to pay anything for it, then the cost point might be mentioned, but not included in the evaluation. And that's exactly what annoys me and is evidence of the unrealistic tests that are shown here.
Don't give a shit about the affordability of the average buyer and don't even show devices that would be significantly better value for money....
In my opinion, the performance of the device should be added up and then divided by the price it costs... Then perhaps a product that is not so well known would have a chance of doing well.
I am not saying that there are no such evaluation formats... It's just that these formats should be given a platform here at Digitec/Galaxus, where Galaxus always advertises absolute price transparency.
Sure, there are always alternatives shown here. But I'm referring to the external reviews here, which only ever reflect the technical performance.
