When I switch on the unit, I have a permanent noise on the loudspeaker, which is hardly normal. What can I do about it or is the unit defective?

That is definitely not the case with us. I would complain.

With ours, it is only noisy during the sound transmission. If the sensitivity is set very high and the background noise at the baby unit is high, it is possible that it is transmitted continuously. However, you would recognise this from the graphic (crying baby).
