I have cancelled my cable connection so that neither TV nor Internet are running through my house wiring. The modem works perfectly for me without anything. You probably need a splitter and filter if satellite TV is also running through the cable.

Exactly, it works for me in the same way as in the other comment. Important: Make sure that nobody in the house is using the cable connection. Cut it off from the outside network so that you don't interfere with the cable network with your signals (we have a Cablecom distributor in the basement) = simply pull out two cables. Then it works.
