ASUS WL router ZenWiFi BQ16
What can I use to expand the system? Does it have to be a device from the BQ16 series or can I also use one from the BT8 / BT10 or similar. series? I'm asking because I have to supply a total of four floors with wifi (if I include the basement).
The mesh nodes in the Asus ZenWiFi series are interconnectable.
However, the maximum speed will be determined by the slowest device.
Only the BQ16 has a 6Ghz frequency (2 for the BQ16 pro) in backhaul connection, the XT8s are only 5 Ghz. As a result, if you mix the two technologies, the BQ16's 6Ghz frequency will never be used.
Hello, I have decided in favour of 2 BQ16, they have more antennas and frequencies (1x6ghz, 2!!!x5Ghz, 1x2.4Ghz) than the BT10 (only 1x5Ghz), so more "reserve" for the MESH, the surcharge to the BT10 is manageable. It works well for me when one BQ16 is on the ground floor and the second on the first floor. I have placed both routers by the window and relatively close to each other, the basement and screed still have signal, of course it depends on the construction method, we have a wooden house from 1940 without a concrete ceiling.
