What about the castors - can they be locked? Or is the furniture always movable? Our children should not be able to move it.

Yes, the castors are always movable. However, the furniture is very heavy and moving it requires a certain amount of force. But you could also make 2-3 slats that are slightly higher than the wheels and place them underneath.....
