If you have received information from the manufacturer, could you share it here?
I think that LED bulbs don't emit enough heat and that the fire effect will be worse. 
Depending on the design, it may even be that the unit really needs 35w halogen lamps and that the power supply will break down when using lamps with lower power consumption.
