This supports 5ghz yes? And do you disable your onboard network card while using this?
Yes, it does. 2.4GHz and 5.0 GHz is supported. Usually you don't have to disable the Ethernet LAN card if it's not connected anyway. If you are using LAN and Wireless together, then LAN normally takes priority.
