Apple TV 4K (3rd Gen) + Ethernet
128 GB, tvOS 16
The provider SALT offers Apple TV as a TV reception station as part of its SALT Home range. Although the installation instructions still refer to a connection option via Ethernet, we received the Apple TV 64GB (3rd gen) as our TV box. And it effectively no longer has an Ethernet connection! Question 1: Can a purchased Apple TV 128GB (3rd gen) be operated via the SALT app within Salt-Home without any problems? Question 2: Can the Apple TV box received from Salt and pre-configured according to Salt be sold and operated independently of Salt? N.B.: Apart from this lapse on Salt's part, the switch to Salt worked without any problems.
1. the Apple TV devices offered by Salt are in no way different from any other. You can connect a "third-party" Apple TV without any problems and answer the question about the TV provider with "Salt" during installation. It will work in exactly the same way as with an Apple TV supplied by Salt.
2. of course. Attention: Check the Salt contract conditions. If you cancel before the agreed contract term, the price of the Apple TV must be refunded pro rata.
(The Apple TVs are not "pre-configured" by the provider. tvOS simply asks for the TV supplier, who can then carry out a passwordless login based on the IP address).
