The player does not remember where I interrupted the film. Each time, everything starts all over again, including adverts and copy instructions and ThankYou. Can't the player do that?

Problem solved.
I had followed the operation of my previous player, also a Samsung. When you switched it on, it automatically jumped to the place where you were last time. With the new player, this has changed. You have to press the ▶️ button to continue in the movie.
