The performance data of the switch meet my needs. But: It is not obvious when the switch is how loud. Please ask the manufacturer for the following independently confirmed measured values: Noise level at 20°C and "no traffic load at all" : ___ dB(A) Noise Level at 20°C and "25% / 50% 75% 95% traffic load": ___ / ___ / ___ / ___ dB(A) Noise Level at 30°C and "no traffic load at all" : ___ dB(A) Noise Level at 30°C and "25% / 50% 75% 95% traffic load": ___ / ___ / ___ / ___ dB(A) Noise Level at 40°C and "no traffic load at all" : ___ dB(A) Noise Level at 40°C and "25% / 50% 75% 95% traffic load": ___ / ___ / ___ / ___ dB(A) Merci muchmals.

The noise was often criticised in the UniFi forums. The terse answer from UniFi: With professional fans, this is the way it has to be, or rather, this is the way it is. Hey switch manufacturers, where is your innovation? Wouldn't a large horizontal fan be possible instead of small horizontal fans? A heat pipe in the switch unthinkable?

I am afraid that these values cannot be determined so easily, because they are not only dependent on the "traffic load".

The noise level is determined by the fan speed and this depends on the temperature in the swich. This in turn depends on the following parameters:
1.) Data throughput
2) PoE power output
3) SFP+ modules used (type => twisted pair or fibre (range / fibre type); manufacturer, etc.)
4) Cable lengths (longer cables require more energy for the same data throughput)
5) Cable quality (poor cables require more energy than good cables with the same cable length)
6) Possibly other factors that I hadn't thought of in a hurry.

In addition, one would probably have to take time into account, since thermal processes have a certain inertia => a short high load does not lead to the same heating inside the switch as the same load over a longer period of time.
