So I can have the router downstairs in the living room, this thing upstairs to the socket, connect and then the Ethernet cable to the PC?

It should work as long as the EX6150 connects to the router below (iron in the concrete). But I ask you, why do you want to connect to the PC with the Ethernet cable? The EX6150 is actually a WLAN extension and you could connect directly to the EX6150 via WLAN. No tangled cables etc. and the speed is quite good. Hope that helps.
