EQ-3 Starter set smoke detector
Question about the radio connection: Do all smoke detectors have to be within radio distance of the IP base or can a smoke detector that is too far away communicate with the base via a smoke detector that is closer?
I cannot answer this question conclusively. The following two statements can be read in the operating instructions:
1) The smoke alarm device must be tested thoroughly at the installation site to ensure that it can reach other smoke alarm devices in the radio network and, if necessary, the Access Point by radio under all circumstances.
2) The radio range (type: radio free-field range) of the Homatic IP Access Point is 400m.
From my point of view, it is not clear from the operating instructions whether it must be within range of the IP Access Point.
I use the smoke alarms in a single-family house over three floors (access point too low) and have full reception everywhere.
