Maybe someone here can help. I have a NAS with only a 10 GBit connection. Can I connect it to the 10 Gbit connection and then all other devices via Gigabit? The TV, SONOS and also the computers should be able to access the NAS. None of them have 10 GBit. I'm a bit stumped at the moment. Thank you all. Greetings, Sebastian
Hello Sebastian
Assume that your NAS has a 10G RJ45 (copper) connection. Then you can use a "Ubiquiti UF-RJ45-10G" to connect it.
Hello Sebastian
You only have 10G on the two corresponding ports. But be careful, these two ports require an SFP adapter (RJ 45 copper or glass) which you have to order separately. If your NAS only supports 10G you have to check if RJ 45 or glass. The other 8 ports on the switch support max. 1G, but of course with autonegotiation. This means that the ports adapt to the end device that you plug in. Everything clear?
PS: Please note that there are different types of SFPs, but that goes beyond the scope of this article
