Is this part also suitable for desktop PCs? Can I use it to beam content from the PC to the TV?

This would work if you have a compatible WLAN network card installed in your desktop PC.

However, it must support the WLAN-certified Miracast technology or be certified for Intel Wireless Display (Wi-Di). No guarantee which cards are compatible. My 4-year-old built-in WLAN network card, for example, does not work...
