Is this camera (plug and play) or do I need to buy some kind of base station? Does this device also record sound and can I communicate via the camera (with the children or similar)?

Hello, it is an IP camera. You can see the video stream under an IP address. Sound is also available. But I use a Synology server for recording when something moves in front of the camera. But there is also a cloud server from Reolink which is free for one camera as far as I understand.

So it doesn't need a base station, but it does need an Ethernet connection for the initial configuration.
It also records sound, but I don't think it records sound output, but I'm not entirely sure.
