The alarm clock is absolutely noiseless, a practically undetectable "ticking" is only audible if you press it directly on your ear. My wife (with above-average hearing and very light sleep!) has the alarm clock about 30cm next to her pillow, so very close to her head and definitely hears nothing. Yes, my partner has very sensitive ears and she hears it ticking (I don't) so it is being returned.
