Is the Connect Box 3 mesh-capable? If so, which manufacturer should I choose, or is there experience of which devices the mesh network works well with?

Recommended manufacturers with good experience are TP-Link (e.g. Deco M4 or P7, works without problems) and Devolo (Mesh Wifi 2, compatible but with potential interruptions in some setups). Make sure you only connect the main mesh router directly to avoid DHCP conflicts and use an Ethernet switch if necessary.
