Is it possible to use this unit in a permanent flat to cool down a small-medium sized room? My bedroom has a small balcony and I am thinking of putting the cooling unit in my bedroom and the heat dissipating unit on the balcony.

Yes, you can! You must remember that:
-The outdoor unit must be able to drain the condensation water (hose).
-The connecting hoses prevent the door or window from closing completely. (danger during rain)
-The cooling capacity is sufficient for a normal room. (Tested by myself).
