Is it possible to connect this device to another (third-party) wireless access point and at the same time prevent the device itself from providing a wireless access point? I only want to be able to connect a device in a room to the network via LAN cable using a wireless bridge. I don't need wireless there (or the existing wireless is sufficient), and I don't want an AP that sparks around unnecessarily and isn't used by any client.
Both should work, even with a non-AVM router. However, the repeater will always work as a repeater, i.e. it will 'extend' the original network. As far as I know, it cannot be operated as a pure receiver, the repeater function cannot be switched off.
From the manual (https://assets.avm.de/files...):
Requirements
- Router with automatic IP address assignment (DHCP)
- For operation as a WLAN repeater: FRITZ!Box or other WLAN router according to IEEE 802.11ax, IEEE 802.11ac or 802.11n
And for the LAN socket: Gigabit Ethernet connection for:
- Connection of PC, notebook, games console, Smart TV and other network-compatible devices
Hello, you can connect to other devices see other brands without problems, obviously it is better to do it through the Internet Browser and not with the simple WPS, concerning the second question of not having the Extender function I have never tried it
