After a year of operation on a fibre 7 connection, I can only recommend the router.
With the Merlin firmware you can optimally utilise the potential of the hardware.
Advantages of the Merlin FW:

- Add-on support: Compatible with Diversion (Adblock), Skynet (firewall) and custom scripts.
- Fast updates: Community-driven patches, including RT-BE88U support for Swiss networks

We have been using the router with Fibre7 for a few weeks now and everything is working perfectly. Plug in the init7 optics, connect to the OTO socket, done.
