You may have sound on the projector (if speakers are built in) and on the receiver. Therefore, deactivate the sound on the projector. ARC is necessary if you only have an HDMI cable between the TV and the receiver and want to watch TV from the TV tuner, for example, but want the sound via the receiver. As long as the projector does not function as an input device, you do not need ARC.
