I also wanted to install a 2.5" HD via the hot-swap slide. Unfortunately, it doesn't work without an additional bracket because the screws block the slot. I bought the Corsair 2.5" to 3.5" mounting bracket (link below) and it works fine. The necessary screws are already included in the kit.

No, I have installed a WD Red 4 Tb (Digitec item 634541) 3.5 inch HD and this works great.
