I think I need a simple device to play mkv films from a USB drive. These are already larger files for a 70''+ TV and should therefore be able to output the best quality. Is this device something for me?

Even recorded holiday videos from 2002 can be played from CD in astonishingly good quality on a 42 HD-capable TV. I bought and installed it for a friend. It is tiptop.
If you want to play an MKV video on a DVD player, you have to convert it to another format. I don't know of any device, other than the compi, that recognises MFK files.

Hello,
You can find technical data about the device here: https://www.philips.ch/c-p...
MPEG and DivX formats are supported. AVI is also mentioned.
I don't think it can play mkv files.
Otherwise the device is very good and inexpensive for normal DVD playback.
Greetings, C.

Hello here Reto - I simply use the device to play old DVDs in an uncomplicated way. I don't know which other data formats can be effectively unpacked and read. Conclusion: The device is top for my needs. Greetings - Reto
