I recently bought the Roku Stick and was shocked to discover that you can't use the thing (which gets the highest ratings everywhere) in Switzerland because, apart from Netflix, there is no decent app available.

Hence the question: Does the Amazon 4k max run Netflix & Disney+? Does it have any other useful apps besides Amazon Prime, like HBOmax or something?

Netflix & Disney+ run on it. Unfortunately, there is no app for HBOmax. I think I read somewhere that you can watch it on the browser via detours. I can't answer that for sure because I'm not an HBOmax user and live in Germany.
