I installed the repeater according to the instructions and the reception improved. Internet access is never interrupted, but during video calls I sometimes have lags (the picture quality goes down automatically or the call goes to buffer). What could be the reason for this? An update? Or is it due to the choice of 5 GHZ vs. 2.4 GHZ?

Hello EZuel,

Thesis 1: your internet connection is fluctuating. The best way to check this is to call up the user interface of your FRITZ!Box (call up fritz.box via the browser) when the dips occur.

Thesis 2: The location of your calls is not optimal. There is too much interference (objects, furniture, metal, power lines) between the repeater and your PC.
repeater and your PC.

Hypothesis 3: Do you have the repeater in the mesh?

Note: 5Ghz has a shorter range than 2.4Ghz. Therefore, with 5Ghz connections, you should pay particular attention to thesis two! 2.4Ghz has a higher range, but many devices transmit on this frequency (e.g. various Bluetooth devices, other devices in the WLAN, etc.), which can lead to interruptions.
The FritzBox offers the possibility to prioritise devices. You could otherwise try this for the time of your calls (also accessible via the user interface).

I have changed something in all three theses. Now I usually have maximum reception via the repeaters. In our case, the problem is the router's input signal (5G). I have no experience with cable lines.

Part 2:
Powerful tools are built into the Fritz!Box, which the "semi-professional" with good to very good school knowledge (SEK-II preferred ...) from mathematics, computer science and physics can use if necessary with (... please google for "fritz box wireshark") with a lot of patience in "Learning By Doing" to detect "connection and bandwidth problems".
In my opinion, the cooperation of the "professionals" of the "Internet contract partner" is indispensable here (1-hour level support is not the competent solution partner in my opinion). (1-level support is in my opinion not the competent solution partner - at best the "problem collection point", which then sends back "pseudo-solution tankers" from my "problem water buckets".
Oh yes, a local source of knowledge is also the evaluation of the "Fritz!Box -> "System" -> "Events" (... filter there according to the event group ...).
My (W)LAN is optimally set, but due to the presumably too tight bandwidths of the streaming providers, there are data leaks, which then become noticeable locally, e.g. on the TV, in bandwidth constrictions or stream interruptions ...
Now I'll stop ... I would have to get closer to the "faulty systems" with further diagnostic interactions and that is very, very difficult offline as it is here (... possibly the "technical jargon" is also misunderstood so that misinterpretations could occur ... But I don't want THAT at all ...
Have fun learning

Good day,
I am using this repeater as a WLAN network extension on an AVM Fritz!Box 7590 AX. I determine the most favourable repeater location as a compromise between the field strengths of the Fritz Box <-> repeater on the one hand and the repeater <-> "consumer for (also) streaming devices ... TV ... etc."
This "measurement" works great with my ANDROID mobile phone via the installed Fritz!App WLAN and the blue button "Measure WLAN" ... and then further down in this window "My repeaters" (click ...) -> Evaluate repeater position (click).
This procedure is in my opinion the "cheapest" way to success ... (... I have just done it again myself ... the evaluation is clearly shown in a bar chart with the repeater visible ... (from here on you can see for yourself ... the graphical representation is self-explanatory ...)
Another hint:
AX fits better to AX ... I reject any "cheap" mixed configurations for the evening ... if only for reasons of compatibility ...
Everything clear so far?
