I have the following questions: - Do I only need this device, or do I still need a central station? - Is it connected via WLAN or do I have to lay a cable?

- No, that is not necessary.
- Connection via WLAN or LAN. Control via smartphone with the mydlink Lite app for iOS and Android or via web interface with internet browser on the computer.
