I have purchased the product and am still missing the bridge. Does it have to be connected to the wifi somewhere and active all the time or do I only need the bridge to install the light and then it works via the sensor?

Hue works via Zigbee, not via WLAN. They are completely different wireless systems.

The bridge also doesn't have wifi built in, but is connected via a LAN cable.

As long as the base has power, it can control the lights and sensors registered with it.

Without a LAN cable connected, it can of course not be reached via mobile phone,
In that case, only the automations stored on the bridge would be able to run.

There is even a direct link between some of the connected products.
For example, my dimmer switch can control the light assigned to it even if the base is deenergised.
is de-energised. However, I have not found out in detail when this works and when it does not.

All devices, whether lamps, motion detectors or switches, must be within the range of your WLAN, otherwise the Bridge cannot control them. Since the Bridge is connected to your router via LAN anyway, this should not be a problem. If your WLAN does not reach far enough (e.g. to the garage, basement or garden), I can only recommend the fritz wlan repeater 1750e. It's easy to install and can even be used via any power socket after programming. I installed it in my house and it works great in the garage and driveway. You can also find many instruction videos on YouTube.

The brigde is connected directly via LAN, it cannot use WLAN. It also controls everything, i.e. it must always be connected to power and LAN.
