I don't understand why such programmes are still being sold. That has not been necessary for years.

I was thinking something similar... Either a virus or Norton. Haven't figured out the difference yet...

In my opinion, the death blow came with the implemented crypto mining. Before, one could still argue with security (yes, of course, with far too many tools and bells and whistles). With the crypto nonsense, it's a (power) trap for inexperienced users and, if you want to look at it very critically, an unasked-for rip-off of the customer who has just spent a lot of money on a product that was supposed to protect him (from cybercrime). Crass irony.

I could buy this product and have a VPN that is much cheaper than e.g. NordVpn or Cypher?

In what way no longer necessary? Question as a layman.

I agree with you for private users, but if you work with a PC, I see things differently. Almost every script kiddie tries to make his RAT "FUD" and concentrates primarily on Windows Defender, Avira and the like. Windows Defender is now really good, really good, but Norton and other programmes definitely have their right to exist.
