I currently have a Sunrise subscription, with their "Sunrise Internet Box" modem. Do I need to switch to Bridge mode in order to use this router?
No, I operated my UCG behind the Sunrise modem. Without bridge mode, port forwarding is a bit more complicated, but it works.
