Question about Synology Ds218+
How loud is the fan? If the NAS is in the living room...
I don't own this exact model, but you can at least partially adjust the fan speed (quiet mode).
With a low CPU load, it will then be barely audible or switched off completely.
The clicking of the hard drives is much louder in my case (Ironwolf hard drives can be quite loud).

My HP Elitebook is louder (when ventilated).
You hear a rather deep fan noise, like in a quiet tower or server room. I sit 2m away from it in my office and I don't find it too loud (but that's always relative).
The hard drive processes are noticeably louder for me when data is being written or read.
I have to concentrate or it has to be very quiet in the environment for me to notice the fan.
