How long do the 6 AA batteries last? Do I have to recharge them every year?
The device will test itself and check the status of the batteries between each test. You do not need to be afraid.
Batteries are not charged but replaced. Rechargeable batteries are charged, but rechargeable batteries are not recommended for this application (very little use). I have been using mine for about 0.5 year now and have not had to change them yet, although they have sounded the alarm several times.
