How does Adobe check whether I am a student or not? In other words, if I buy this licence and it is not accepted by my educational institution, have I made a bad purchase?

Adobe checks the subscription authorisation based on the email address that was specified at the time of purchase. Such an address can end in .edu, for example, or indicate the domain of an educational institution in a similar way. If you cannot provide an email address for your school/university or your email address cannot be verified, additional proof of authorisation may be required after purchase.
Pupils, students, trainees and teachers at recognised educational institutions.
Proof of eligibility is a document issued by your educational institution stating your name, the name of the educational institution and the date. Valid proofs are:
Pupil or student ID card certificate Certificate from the educational institution Proof of school or tuition fees paid Pupils in home schooling.
Valid proof includes
Dated copy of enrolment for home schooling Proof of current membership in a homeschooling association Dated proof of curriculum purchase for the current school year
But in fact, should the verification be denied, the product would not be usable.
