how can i use the fritzbox without connecting it to a swisscom box? I have the cheapest swisscom subscription and therefore the wifi performance is also reduced with the Fritzbox.
Hello, it depends on which Swisscom subscription or which router was supplied. If it is a newer subscription, e.g. Vivo xs, the Internet Box Standard is included. You simply have to read out the access data legally. Have a look at http://supportcommunity.swisscom.ch/t5...
The SIP access data must then only be entered in the FritzBox. You should be able to find everything under this link. It works perfectly for me. Kind regards Bingojoker
Since the end of April, Swisscom has been communicating the access data for telephony (VoIP) to its private customers.
The procedure is explained in rudimentary form at the address: https://www.swisscom.ch/de....
Official NATEL login required at Swisscom. You need this for the two-factor authentication, because the data is transmitted by SMS.
Select "Manage SIP Credentials". After the second login, you will be asked to enter the code. This completes the connection of your number. Now you can create the SIP credentials and have them sent to you by SMS.
It's news to me that Swisscom discloses the credentials. I cannot judge whether it is legal.
My advice would be to cancel the subscription, subscribe only to the "naked" DSL line (e.g. Monzoon.net) and have the fixed-network number operated by an independent telephony provider (e.g. Peoplefone, Sipcall, etc.). The changeover may be a bit time-consuming, but then you are finally independent and can use the router you want.
(Of course, there are also advantages with the Swisscom package, e.g. support from a single source, which can be useful for "standard users". However: the competing offers run on the same Swisscom or Sunrise infrastructures, so there are no more failures there. The offers are simply cheaper if you want to avoid bundling).
