Hmm, just read in the Google Store EN that the setup can only be done with a mobile phone or tablet (no longer via PC). OK, feasible... But does the mobile phone or tablet always have to be running? I thought that was what the remote control was for? Do I have WLAN via Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro2 (E5885Ls-93a)? Or does the Wi-Fi have to come from a mobile phone or tablet? Sorry, over 50, female and "streaming newbie". I have TV via SAT so far, but the Chromecast thing would be cool without having to buy a new TV ;-)
No, the setup is only necessary for the connection with the Google Account. After that, you no longer need the phone or tablet. By the way, the Google ChromeCast with Google TV power adapter has a US plug, i.e. an adapter would still be necessary. However, since the Google ChromeCast with Google TV has a USB-C interface, it can also be operated with a CH USB charger and a USB-C cable. Digitec may supply a power adapter for Swiss sockets, but I don't know.
Streaming with the device works flawlessly, it can connect to the 2.4 GHz as well as the 5 GHz WiFi network. This works without any problems with the existing Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro2. When setting up the device, you only have to select the WLAN of the Mobile WiFi Hotspot and enter the password for it.
By the way, the remote control of the Google ChromeCast with Google TV can also operate the TV, i.e. switching on the TV, turning the volume up and down is all possible with it :).
