Personally, I bought it without the sim card. Having a subscription with Swisscom, I activated the multidevice option, one can choose a subscription at 3, 5, or 10 fr per month, I took the one at 10fr to have the maximum speed, with the subscription at 5 fr it is limited to 1Mb/s, for the order of ideas the camera in full resolution sends a flow with env 8Mb/s In medium quality at 1Mb/s In low quality below 1Mb/s I needed top image quality because I use it to observe my apiary. The camera is really top notch, but the sensor is an 8MP sensor, so you can't expect to get a video as good as with the phone.
After two years you have to get a data subscription, it usually costs between 4 and 10 francs per month depending on the operator (swissocm, digital rep, etc...). if I may advise you avoid the Keen model (camouflage), buy the normal reolink go pt (white), it costs even less. On paper they should be the same except for the colour, but in reality the Keen model has a sensor that is less effective in all senses than its twin reolink pt, detection distance, reactivity to movement and if you put the reolink pt and the keen side by side, with the keen it feels like you are a few metres further away. Also, the keen takes longer to display video. I own both models, the reolink go pt bought in April 2021 and the keen bought in October 2023. If the keen is still the same as the one I bought in 2023, I would not buy it again.
