No! If you spray the carpet and rub it in, it will soak it up. However, if there is a lot of dirt, the concentrate remains in the fibres. I've been using it for years.
I don't know, I've never cleaned a carpet. We use it for sofas. It probably depends on the thickness of the carpet and the material.
