Hello, According to the technical data, it is possible to operate the switch as a powered device. This means that the switch should draw power from another switch and not via a power supply unit. Unfortunately, I have not yet found out how to set this up. Does anyone have any experience or tips?
I can answer my question myself because I contacted Netgear support. Netgear's policy is that it requires a PD (Powered Device) port to operate the switch via PoE. The only switch that Netgear currently offers as a PD device is the GS105PE. In this case it is a false statement by Digitec if the device is declared as a powered device. Please adjust all products which are affected by this. Merci :-)
So it's simply a matter of connecting this device without another power supply. This type of switch can be operated with any existing POE switch as long as the total amount of power of the main switch is sufficient.
I have a CISCO POE switch and operate a total of 4 Netgear POE switches on it without a power supply ...
