Victron Energy Charge controller SmartSolar MPPT 100/20
Hello, my question is whether the device will support two 310w solar panels connected in series, i.e. 310w /24v. Thank you
Hi, 310W in series makes approx. 620W. Your limitation is the battery voltage and charging current. The charging current is max. 20A. In other words
12V battery --> max. approx. 270W
24V battery -> max. approx. 540W
477 battery -> max. approx. 1000W
According to the data sheet, you can also connect more power, it is regulated down.

If you have two 310W solar modules with 24V each and connect them in series, this would be 310W at 48V.
According to the data sheet, this charge controller can use the following input power:
At 24V maximum 580W.
At 48V maximum 1160W.
So it should work in any case. Only with a parallel connection would you only get a maximum of 580W instead of 620W.
In addition, you can always use too many solar panels. The data sheet states at the bottom: "If more PV power is connected, the controller limits the input power."
So if you theoretically. solar panels with a total of 1000W at 24V, then the charge controller would only draw a maximum of 580W. In this case, the data sheet limits the maximum short-circuit current of the system to 20A.
