AVM FRITZ!Box 5590 Fiber XGS-PON
Hello. I have a Wingo connection (10 GB/10 GB). Unfortunately, the router supplied by Wingo was simply too bad for me, with too few WLAN connections. Now I've bought a Fritz!Box 5590 XGS-PON, but unfortunately I can't dial into the router. The router establishes a connection to the Internet. But that's about it. I can't get a network on my devices, whether LAN or WLAN. Do I have to get the router authorised by the network operator (NSN) first?
The FRITZ!Box 5590 Fibre is an officially (Swisscom) certified end device. Most providers do MAC binding, so the assumption is correct that you have to register with your provider to get Internet access. The data required for this can be found on the label on the FRITZ!Box and in the quick guide. With other providers in Switzerland, you get to an activation page when you change hardware (provider router > free router) and can activate this without a hotline call. I use a cheaper connection from SolNet and it works without any problems with the 5590.
I am considering buying this router in connection with Smart Home and have received the following message from Wingo in this regard: "Regarding the question about your own router, at Swisscom you have the option to activate "Bridge Mode", this option is not available at Wingo. The option simplifies the use of your own router. With us, you must always have the Wingo Internet box connected to the Gals fibre socket. Then you can connect your own router to the IB. Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly how to set this up as we don't provide support for it."
Has anyone had any experience with this in the meantime or got the router to work as desired with Wingo?
