Samsung HW-Q900A
406 W, 7.1.2 Channel
Hello Community I have a (perhaps easy to answer) question after searching the net for 2-3 hours, including Samsung and all other relevant internet sites which did not explicitly address this configuration (TV Box = no X-Box and other devices = yes). The following is the current situation: Cablecom TV Box >>> on Yamaha Receiver (and from there, with various speakers) from the receiver >>> on Samsung Q80T QLED QKTV (no speakers controlled by the TV). New situation: What's gone is the receiver, what's new is a soundbar from Samsung, Q900A. How is this now controlled and how is the signal transmitted? 1. cablecom TV box to >>> soundbar (HDMI1) and from there via HDMI eARC (OUT) to the TV (on HDMI eARC IN). 2. or Cablecom TV Box to >>> HDMI1 (or another connection) on the TV and from there via HDMI eARC (IN) and then to the soundbar (to HDMI eARC OUT). I'm very curious about the answers and/or additional questions. Greetings dm1
I see that the soundbar has an optical connection and so does your TV. Therefore, I would recommend this connection:
Cablecom TV Box to >>> HDMI1 on the TV and from there via optical connection to the soundbar.
Here is a suitable cable, I also have it and it's great. It is available in different lengths:
Goobay Toslink cable with metal plugs (1.50 m, upper class, optical)
Hello, I would also connect this with a Toslink (optical cable) from the TV to the soundbar, works perfectly.

Fabian909 and Carlo, thank you both for the answers.
TOSLINK or optical cable are actually not optimal as this only supports up to 5.1 (the HW-Q900 is a 7.1).
I also got in touch with Samsung support and they said that if possible, you should use eARC (TOSLINK can also cause feedback problems, whatever that means, and Dolby ATMOS is possible). So for me it now works as follows:
Cable box to input HDMI1 of the Soundbar
Blue Ray to HDMI2 input of the Soundbar
Soundbar eARC out to TV eARC in.
The disadvantage with the HDMI cable is the slot on the soundbar that is available. Cables with ferrite cores can be a tight squeeze.
The only thing I find a little strange is that Samsung provides an optical connection on the soundbar, as this cannot take full advantage of everything.
